How To Stop Or Remove Mobile Tower Installation In Residential Areas?

Due to increase in the mobile phones users in India, there is also a need to increase the number of mobile phone towers to provide seamless mobile connectivity to everyone. And, this is the major reason that mobile phone service provider companies are installing mobile towers everywhere, even nearby hospitals, residential areas, schools and other crowded areas, which may not be good for the health of the public at large.

Legal Steps To Be Taken To Stop Or Remove Mobile Phone Tower Installation In Residential Areas

1. Speak directly with the owner of premises who has entered into an agreement with companies to get mobile phone tower installed on the roof of his or her premises. You need to know his views about the harmful effects of mobile phone towers on human's body and mind and need to convince him peacefully to stop or remove the said installation.

2. Check with local resident welfare association (RWA) if the owner of the premises has taken the approval before installing the mobile phone tower at its premises.

3. File RTI application in your local municipality to check if the owner of the premises has taken the approval of municipality before installing mobile phone tower at his or her premises.

4. File a joint complaint after taking signature of all residents of your area before the District Magistrate of your district.

5. If District Magistrate does not take action then you can file your complaint in the court with the help of an advocate. You can submit the statement of all residents who have been affected by the radiations of mobile phone tower or who are on the verge of getting affected due to the same.

6. After hearing the both parties along with inspection of complaint and related documents, court may order for stay on the installation of mobile phone tower or can deactivate the tower if it has been installed few days or months back.

Statement of Senior Official From DOT (Department of Telecommunications):  

On the basis of the extensive research on EMF signals, mobile tower radiation does not cause any injurious health issues. This statement was made in the webinar which was attended by officers of the state government, doctors, local bodies, police officers and technical institutions.  (Source - The Times of India).

Statement of IARC: Radiations from mobile phones and towers may cause, giloma, a type of brain cancer; said by WHO's International Agency For Research On Cancer.

Conclusion of Views of American Cancer Society, US Food & Drug Administration and National Toxicology Program: There are mixed views of international bodies about mobile phone tower radiations and research is still under progress and no official cum conclusive statement has been made till date.

What Is The Time Limit To Use Stamp Papers In India?

Validity of stamp paper has always been a matter of confusion in the mind of a person who purchases the same and is not able to use the same within next six months. According to section 54 of the Indian Stamp Act 1899 , if a person does not have the use of the stamp paper, then he can deposit the same with the collector, within six months from the date of purchase and can get the refund of money after a deduction of 10 paise per rupee.
